Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, met with the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, Patrice Emery Trovoada, on Thursday in Casablanca.
During the meeting, Akhannouch and Trovoada discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation to develop South-South cooperation for the benefit of the African continent, the Head of Government’s office said in a statement.
Akhannouch expressed Morocco’s readiness to share its experience with neighboring African countries, welcoming the outcomes of the cooperation roadmap between Morocco and São Tomé and Príncipe during 2020-2022. In addition to the mutual desire to move forward with an advanced roadmap prioritizing key development sectors, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral political consultation, especially since Morocco and São Tomé and Príncipe mutually and coordinately support each other’s candidacies within various regional and international gatherings.
The Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe also reaffirmed support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, as evidenced by the opening of a consulate general of this African country in Laayoune in Southern Morocco in January 2020.
The two officials further highlighted the importance of establishing a business council between the nations to boost bilateral trade exchanges and strengthen their economic potential..
