Inkyo Cheong, the Minister for Trade of the Republic of Korea, met on Friday with Karim Zidane, Morocco’s Minister Delegate for Investment, Convergence, and the Evaluation of Public Policies, in Seoul to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.
Zidane’s visit is a significant development for the “Morocco Now” investment roadshow, solar quarter reported.
This meeting builds on the discussions held during the Korea-Africa Summit 2024, which aimed to foster stronger economic links between African nations and South Korea.
Both sides expressed a commitment to advancing their efforts through a bilateral Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
Minister Zidane echoed the need to fast-track EPA talks and invited Korean businesses to explore Morocco’s promising sectors, such as clean energy, shipbuilding, and high-tech industries like aviation and automobiles.
Zidane highlighted Morocco’s strategic location as a gateway to both Europe and the Middle East, supported by an extensive network of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with 55 countries, making the country an attractive investment hub.
Minister Cheong underscored the urgency of initiating negotiations for the EPA, which he believes will facilitate increased investment and business exchanges between South Korea and Morocco.
He also called for Moroccan support to ensure that Korean companies can participate in key infrastructure projects in Morocco, particularly in the rail, train, and renewable energy sectors.
