A B-52 Stratofortress, a strategic long-range bomber from the U.S. Air Force, recently flew over Moroccan airspace during a joint training mission with the Royal Moroccan Air Force, media reported.
Two B-52 Stratofortress bombers from the 20th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron entered Moroccan airspace as part of the Bomber Task Force 25-1 mission on November 22. In collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Air Force, the exercise included mission simulations involving support and deterrence through bomb drops in southern Morocco.
The bombers were deployed from Fairford Air Base in the United Kingdom and were escorted by F-16 fighter jets from the Royal Moroccan Air Force during the operation.
“Morocco is a key player in maintaining regional stability and security while promoting peace and prosperity in the Middle East and across Africa,” the specialized American magazine Air & Space Forces noted.
The operation highlights the strong military partnership between Morocco and the United States, which includes joint exercises such as African Lion, held annually in Morocco.
