Epiroc has partnered with Pan-African mining company Managem to bring advanced digital tools to the Tizert copper mine, the largest underground mining operation in Morocco’s Taroudant region, according to a statement from Epiroc on Tuesday.
The collaboration looks to enhance safety, boost productivity, and modernize operations at this significant greenfield site.
“Managem,” a mining group with over 90 years of experience, operates across seven African countries, including Morocco.
The Tizert project is a transformative endeavor for Managem, targeting an annual production of 3.6 million tons of copper ore. From the outset, the site will leverage advanced digital technology to optimize production and ensure safety.
Epiroc’s solutions include real-time tracking systems for personnel and vehicles, enabling efficient resource management and improved emergency response. The technology integrates with third-party planning systems, automating processes and ensuring that timelines are met.
In addition, Epiroc’s data integration platform ensures smooth, real-time communication across all operations.
Managem’s vision is to operate a fully digitalized mine that sets new benchmarks for operational excellence and safety, with the help of Epiroc’s systems.
“We designed our modular and scalable solutions to meet Managem’s current needs while supporting future growth as Tizert evolves,” said Epiroc’s Regional Digital Business Manager, Pelin Kocak. “We’re excited to contribute to this groundbreaking project.”
