Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita inaugurated with his Malagasy counterpart, Rafaravavitafika Rasata, the Embassy of the Republic of Madagascar in Rabat on Wednesday.
Bourita highlighted during his speech that the opening of “his embassy coincides with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of relations between Morocco and Madagascar,” Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
He also noted: “The creation of this diplomatic mission marks an important milestone and will give new momentum to the historic and privileged relations between the two nations.”
Rasata noted: “The new embassy will pave the way for a new chapter in bilateral relations and allow Madagascar to benefit from Morocco’s experience in various areas.”
Members of the African diplomatic corps accredited in Rabat, as well as members of the Malagasy community residing in Morocco, attended the inauguration ceremony.
Madagascar’s embassy has become the 42nd African diplomatic representation in the Kingdom, bringing the total number of embassies in Rabat to 116. Rabat also hosts 55 regional and international organizations, further cementing its status as a key diplomatic hub in Africa and internationally.
