Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, told Israel’s national TV on Tuesday that he was ready to implement a ceasefire deal with Lebanon.
Despite talks to reach a ceasefire, Israel launched multiple air strikes and bombed Beirut, targeting the Hamra district, which is home to residential buildings, restaurants, offices, shops, the American University of Beirut, and its affiliated hospital, AFP reported.
Netanyahu stated that he would submit the ceasefire agreement to his full cabinet for consideration on Tuesday evening and indicated that Israel would “respond forcefully” to any ceasefire violation.
The United States and France played crucial roles in promoting the ceasefire agreement, which is set to take effect on Wednesday at 4 a.m. Beirut time, Al Jazeera reported.
“In full coordination with the United States, we retain complete military freedom of action. Should Hezbollah violate the agreement or attempt to rearm, we will strike decisively,” Netanyahu said.
