The Public Prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of Appeal arraigned four high-profile men on Saturday on charges of having allegedly attacked, kidnapped, and raped a French lawyer. She has been identified only as S.F., local media reported.
The lawyer, a French citizen, filed two complaints against the individuals, one in Paris and another in Casablanca, precipitating the arrest by Moroccan authorities.
The accused include four men from wealthy Moroccan families: M’hammed Alj, the son of Chakib Alj, the Director of the Moroccan Employers’ Body (CGEM); Kamel Bennis, whose family holds vast riches; businessman Saad Slaoui; and a fourth man who has been identified only as Ahmed D.
The men face multiple serious allegations of rape, kidnapping, assault, battery, and illegal drug use. According to Moroccan security sources, a fifth suspect, identified only as N.M.A., has been released on bail.
The Deputy Attorney General interrogated the suspects before presenting them to a judge for preliminary questioning, after which they were detained pending further investigation.
The families of the four accused men are actively seeking to settle the case outside of court with S.F., the victim of the alleged rape, Barlamane reported.
