Morocco participated in the 70th Annual Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Montreal, Canada, from November 22 to 25 as an associate Mediterranean member, contributing to discussions on NATO’s transformation, partnerships, and global security challenges, Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
The Moroccan delegation includes Mohamed Sabbari, Vice President of the Lower House and member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party, and Saber El Kaif, a deputy from the National Rally of Independents.
The delegation participated in the plenary session and various committee meetings, including the democracy and security committee, the economics and security committee, the defense and security committee, and the political committee.
Key topics discussed during the session included supporting NATO’s ongoing transformation following the annual Washington Summit, anchoring it in NATO’s shared democratic values, ensuring its full implementation, and providing sustainable resources.
Discussions also addressed shaping NATO’s future and its partnerships, tackling climate change and emerging technologies, and exploring economic and security partnerships in Asia.
Additionally, members deliberated on current challenges in the Western Balkans, strategies to support partners and enhance relations with southern countries, NATO’s commitment to stabilizing strategically important regions, and fostering broader international dialogue on global issues.
