Morocco’s Head of National Police (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance Agency (DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, received the General Administrator of Belgian State Security, Francisca Bostyn on Monday in Rabat, who is on a working visit to the Kingdom as the head of an important security delegation.
In the meeting, Hammouchi and Bostyn reviewed various issues of common interest regarding internal security for both nations, according to the DGSN-DGST press release. They also discussed ways to counterterrorism and security threats at both the regional and international levels, particularly in the Sahel region of sub-Saharan Africa, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
The Belgian official welcomed the distinguished and advanced level of security cooperation with Moroccan police services, particularly in fighting terrorism and extremism. She expressed her country’s commitment to strengthening and further developing cooperation to neutralize the threats facing the security of both nations.
The two parties also highlighted the importance of expanding the areas of bilateral cooperation between the internal security services of both countries and facilitating procedures for information exchange, as well as sharing expertise and best practices.
They also agreed to boost the level of bilateral security partnership. The meeting is part of ongoing discussions between the DGSN and DGST Head and his counterparts from friendly countries to develop police cooperation and strengthen coordination on internal security issues and emerging threats.
