The automotive industry in Morocco marked a significant milestone on Friday, with the inauguration of car parts factory “MP Industry Group’s” first establishment at Tanger Automotive City, within North Morocco’s Tanger Med industrial platform.
The factory, a subsidiary of Romania’s “MEN Industry Group,” specializes in manufacturing plastic components for automobiles using cutting-edge injection molding technology, Morocco’s Press Agency, (MAP) reported.
Spanning 35,000 square meters, the facility represents an investment of over MAD 437.62 million (USD 43.5 million) and is set to create 150 direct jobs.
The plant is equipped with advanced systems, including photovoltaic panels for renewable energy and plastic recycling lines, aligning with sustainability goals.
Ryad Mezzour, Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, stated the strategic importance of this project for the country’s industrial ecosystem.
He highlighted that it aligns with the Renault brand’s ecosystem’s vision of bolstering local value chains and advancing Morocco’s industrial competitiveness globally.
Director of Tanger Med Zones, Ahmed Bennis, echoed these sentiments, expressing pride in supporting Romanian investors and contributing to Morocco’s competitiveness in international markets.
The collaboration reflects Morocco’s commitment to integrating innovative industries and promoting economic sustainability.
CEO of MP Industry Group Jean Drugescu, praised Morocco’s vibrant automotive industry and its growing presence in African markets, emphasizing the group’s ambition to deepen its integration into the Moroccan economy. “With the support of Moroccan authorities, we aim to establish a strong footprint in the local industry while embracing our slogan, ‘We are Moroccans,'” he stated.
Renault Group Morocco’s CEO, Mohamed Bachiri, celebrated this partnership, noting Renault’s role in supporting MP Industry Group’s establishment in Morocco. He stressed the importance of enhancing local integration and promoting Morocco’s competitive industrial platform on the global stage.
The factory’s focus on sustainability is a testament to Morocco’s drive for eco-friendly industrial practices. The integration of photovoltaic systems and recycling technologies underscores a shared vision of reducing environmental impact while driving industrial growth.
