Lorna McClymont, a Stirling University graduate, prepares to advance her golf career as she will compete in the Ladies European Tour (LET) in Morocco, known as Morocco’s Lalla Aicha Qualifying School (Q-School) organized in Marrakech next month, the Scottish ‘Daily Record’ reported.
The 24-year-old joins over 250 competitors vying for 20 coveted spots on the 2025 LET, a step that could mark her transition to professional golf.
“I feel ready now,” McClymont said. “Stirling gave me the competitive environment I needed, and I’ve learned to lead and win tournaments. Qualifying for the LET would ultimately validate all the hard work.”
McClymont’s accolades already place her among the elite in amateur golf. This year, she was a key player in Great Britain and Ireland’s Curtis Cup victory over the U.S. and made headlines by reaching the final of the 121st Women’s Amateur Championship.
While she lost narrowly to American Melanie Green, the performance bolstered her reputation as a rising talent.
Rejecting the trend of training in the U.S., McClymont chose to remain in Scotland, where she honed her skills. “I’m proud to have proven that you can succeed at the highest amateur level without going Stateside.”
The golfer’s journey from her early days at Dumbarton Academy to Stirling University’s celebrated golf program reflects her dedication. Coaches at Stirling are confident she is ready to take on this next challenge.
“We’ve seen Lorna grow into a phenomenal player,” said a university representative. “Her consistency and determination are unmatched, and we’re all behind her as she aims for her professional card.”
Facing a demanding competition format in Morocco, McClymont reflected on her preparation. “This is the culmination of years of preparation. I trust my game and training, and I’m ready to take this step,” she said.
Success at Q-School could allow McClymont to compete against some of Europe’s top talents, paving the way for a promising professional career.
