Morocco’s U17 Men’s national team secured its place in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a 1-1 draw with Algeria on Saturday at El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia in the final match of the Union of North African Football Federations (UNAF) qualifying tournament.
Bilal Soukrat scored for Morocco in the 59th minute, while Abderrahmane Achouri scored for Algeria in the 5th minute.
The U17 Atlas Lions finished the UNAF tournament in second place with eight points from two wins and two draws. Egypt, which triumphed 6-1 over Libya in its final match, topped the group with nine points, also securing their qualification for the AFCON.
The UNAF U17 tournament was held in Morocco from November 11-23, with matches played at the Pere Jego Stadium in Casablanca and El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia.
