Türk’s visit coincided with the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) retreat, taking place on November 21-22 under Morocco’s leadership
This retreat served as a platform for reflection and dialogue on the current state and future direction of the Council.
Participants aimed to address challenges and explore reforms essential for bolstering the UNHRC’s central role in global human rights advocacy.
The retreat brought together permanent representatives of UNHRC member states, regional coordinators, and stakeholders such as the chair of the coordination committee of special procedures and various NGOs engaged in the Council’s work.
The discussions highlighted Morocco’s proactive leadership of the UNHRC event, as well as its broader commitment to international human rights.
