Morocco stands at 98th out of 141 countries in the Global Knowledge Index 2024, according to a report assessing worldwide knowledge infrastructure, conducted by the United Nations Development Programme.
Among the 24 countries classified with medium human development, Morocco ranks 7th, with “moderate” progress.
Despite the modest ranking, Morocco performed well in several areas. Researchers in higher education represent a significant strength, indicating robust engagement in academic inquiry.
The country also excels in industrial design applications relative to GDP, suggesting innovation in the manufacturing and production sectors.
In pre-university education, Morocco scores 93, reflecting solid foundational achievements. However, technical and vocational education training, a vital component for workforce readiness, falls short with a score of 45.18, indicating a need for reform.
Meanwhile, the country’s overall education performance scored 58.04, suggesting room for progress in achieving comprehensive educational outcomes.
