The Spanish engineering company “Ineco” has been granted the contract for the preliminary design of the railway service connecting Oued Zem and Béni Mellal in central Morocco, as part of the nation’s “Railway Vision 2040.”
Morocco’s 2040 vision seeks to modernize and expand the country’s rail infrastructure to improve the connection to urban areas and promote economic growth.

In addition to Conduction studies to eliminate level crossings over a 120-kilometer section between Sidi El Aïdi and Oued Zem. Designing a 60-kilometer new railway route to link Oued Zem and Béni Mellal is part of Ineco’s strategy.
The project aligns with Morocco’s broader strategy to extend its high-speed railway network to cover 87% of the population by 2040, up from the current 51%, while interconnecting major ports and airports.
This contract marks the third collaboration between Ineco and Morocco’s National Railway company (ONCF) in 2024, emphasizing Spain’s growing role in supporting Morocco’s infrastructure development goals.
