Moroccan women’s football players and teams secured eleven nominations for the African Football Confederation (CAF) 2024 Awards, proving their mettle as serious contenders, according to the list published on Wednesday.
Sanaa Mssoudy of AS FAR football club was selected as a nominee for the Player of the Year category, along with ten other candidates.
In the Goalkeeper of the Year category, Fatima El Jebraoui of Wydad Athletic Club and Khadija Er-Rmichi of AS FAR were selected for their exemplary performances.
The Interclub Player of the Year category also features Moroccan talent, with Doha El Madani, Khadija Er-Rmichi, and Sanaa Mssoudy from AS FAR representing Moroccan clubs on the continental stage.
Morocco’s Young Player of the Year nominees, Doha El Madani and Lina Mokhtar Jamai highlight the country’s focus on developing young talent for the future of African women’s football.
Mohamed Amine Alioua, coach of AS FAR, is nominated for Coach of the Year, recognizing his exceptional leadership.
The women’s national team A and the U-20 team of Morocco received nominations for the best national teams category, reflecting the country’s commitment to excellence in football.
Morocco’s AS FAR football club is also a nominee in the Club of the Year category.
Scheduled for December 16 in Marrakech, the CAF Awards Gala will celebrate African football, with Morocco prepared to showcase its achievements.
Morocco will host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), further demonstrating the country’s ability to manage major football events and solidifying its football reputation.
