Marius Borg Høiby, the 27-year-old son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, was arrested Monday night on suspicion of rape, Euronews reported.
Police have filed preliminary charges against Høiby for engaging in “sexual intercourse with someone unconscious or otherwise unable to resist,” as stated in their official report.
The plaintiff’s lawyer, Hege Salomon, revealed that her client, who remains anonymous, “is having a hard time.” Salomon also clarified that it was the police, not the victim, who initiated the case. Norwegian broadcaster NRK confirmed the details, as reported by Euronews.
The royal palace has declined to comment on the arrest.
This incident is not Høiby’s first run-in with the law. On August 4, he was arrested in connection with a nighttime altercation at a woman’s apartment in Oslo, where he was accused of causing bodily harm. Police at the scene also discovered a knife embedded in the woman’s bedroom wall.
In September, Høiby faced arrest again for violating a restraining order issued after the August incident.
Høiby, the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, is Mette-Marit’s son from a previous relationship. Although part of the royal family, he holds no official title or responsibilities. The case remains under investigation, drawing widespread media attention.
