Five-year-old gelding Ghasham, owned by Atlas Stud, won the King Mohammed VI Grand Prix for Arabian Thoroughbreds at the 10th Morocco International Horse Race held on Sunday at the Casablanca-Anfa racecourse.
Ridden by Amine Moughat, Ghasham claimed the top prize on the second day of the meeting, sponsored by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Horses (SOREC). Organizers dedicated the first day of the meeting to English Thoroughbreds.
Al Mambir Fal, owned by Fal Stud and ridden by Khalid Ibba, won the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan Grand Prix for Arabian Thoroughbreds along with Buraak, owned by Mohamed Daissaoui and ridden by Mohcine Lafram.
The UAE President’s Cup went to Alataat, owned by Mustapha Ahmed Teeka and ridden by Khaled Miftah Alamari, while Djayzam Maamora, owned by Nour-Eddine Bajjou and ridden by Ayoub Rayi, won the Türkiye Jockey Club Prize. Bazula Fal, owned by Fal Stud and ridden by Reda Moussa, also claimed the Royal Moroccan Association of Horse Breeders (ARMEC) Prize.
Omar Skalli, Director General of the SOREC, told Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) that the 10th Morocco International Horse Race was well organized and obtained great results.
Moroccan horses performed impressively winning the major prizes of King Mohammed VI, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, and Prince Moulay Rachid, Skalli said.
He also noted that foreign delegations that had participated in the meeting had commented on its success. “Such success could help further elevate Morocco’s riding area and enhance the country’s image on the global stage,” he added.
On Saturday, Al Othmane, owned by Mohammed Aziz Bennani and ridden by Aziz Jabafi, won the King Mohammed VI Grand Prix for English Thoroughbreds.
The 10th Morocco International Horse Race included 14 races, eight of them international. The event was broadcast in 20 countries, including the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, South Africa, the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Cyprus, Turkey, Sweden, Ivory Coast, Italy, and France.
