The second “CultuRide” cultural cycling tour, part of the Morocco-Qatar 2024 Cultural Year initiative, began on Saturday in Marrakech, with 40 cyclists from Morocco and Qatar participating through November 23.
The tour is intended to showcase Morocco’s natural beauty and strengthen the cultural ties between the two nations.
Ali Bin Tawwar Al Kuwari, the Qatari Ambassador for the tour, stated that the event provides an opportunity to explore Morocco’s cultural and natural landscapes, starting from Marrakech and ending in Casablanca, while also visiting local villages to experience traditional customs.
The ride goes beyond the physical challenge of cycling, offering participants cultural immersion, such as workshops, and the chance to engage with local communities.
Adil Kharbouch, Morocco’s former cycling champion, praised the hosting of the event and hopes it will become an annual tradition to strengthen ties between the Moroccan and Qatari cycling federations.
The CultuRide allows participants to explore Morocco’s diverse landscapes, from mountains to deserts, beyond the sports aspect. The organisers hope that it will strengthen the cultural ties between Morocco and Qatar while also creating lasting memories for the participants and symbolizing the exchange between the two nations.
