A Moroccan convoy of 13 trucks, including 12 tankers and one repair vehicle, departed from the port of Motril in Granada on Saturday, heading towards Valencia to assist in flood-stricken areas affected by the Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos (DANA), Spanish News Agency EFE reported.
This is the second aid convoy from Morocco that will pass through Motril. The first convoy arrived on Wednesday, and 25 trucks and 70 professionals were committed to similar humanitarian work.
The current convoy is comprised of 34 Moroccan volunteers and specialized technical equipment. The mission prioritizes logistical and humanitarian support, particularly addressing blockages in drainage systems, sewers, and other submerged infrastructure.
José García Fuentes, President of the Port of Motril, highlighted the role of port infrastructure in emergency response: “In challenging situations like the present, the utility of ports emerges as they provide logistical solutions to serve society.”
