Bilal Benhammou, winner of 2024th tiling contest “Master Zlayji,” earned international recognition by securing third place in the prestigious “Sika BFM International Tiling Championship” held in China.
The competition, which took place during early November, attracted 56 participants from 13 countries, with China taking the top spot and Ecuador coming in second.
Benhammou’s success in the competition highlights Morocco’s dedication to excellence in the art of ceramic tiling. This is the second time Morocco has participated in the global event, thanks to the rigorous training programs provided by “Super Cérame,” a subsidiary of Ynna manufacturing, and building materials company “Sika Maroc.”
These organizations co-hosted the unique national event Master Zlayji, which is aimed at recognizing and advancing the skills of Moroccan tilers.
The 2024 edition saw record-breaking participation, with 1,500 contestants—three times the number of entries from the first edition—showcasing the event’s growing importance in promoting Moroccan craftsmanship.
Benhammou expressed his gratitude for the initiatives of Super Cérame and Sika Maroc, emphasizing how the national competition matches the professionalism and quality of international events.
“The Master Zlayji is a valuable opportunity for Moroccan tilers to demonstrate their skills, and the competition in Morocco is just as impressive as the international one,” said Benhammou.
