A fire broke out in a nursing home in Spain’s Aragón region, killing at least ten people and injuring two on Friday, according to Spanish media El Pais.
The fire erupted in a nursing home in Villafranca de Ebro, 28 kilometers southeast of the city of Zaragoza. Firefighters arrived from Zaragoza at around 5 am (GMT +1) to extinguish the fire, which took two hours.
Aragón’s central government delegate, Fernando Beltrán, told reporters that a judicial investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
Beltrán suggested that the likely cause of death was smoke inhalation. He noted that no workers were injured during the rescue operation.
