Younes Zarou, a 26-year-old social media star of Moroccan origin, has gained a global audience for his innovative content, reaching over 55.8 million followers on TikTok, 17.5 million on Instagram, and 25.7 million on YouTube.
In an interview with Barlaman Today, Zarou described his journey from Germany, where he was born and raised, to becoming an international influencer who values his Moroccan identity. Despite his success, Zarou’s goals extend beyond fame as he seeks to promote Morocco’s image globally and plans to establish educational and philanthropic projects in his homeland.
Growing up in Germany and frequently visiting Morocco, Zarou said both cultures shaped him, calling Morocco “home” and praising its vibrant culture and progress, with positive changes each time he returns.
He intends to challenge outdated views of Morocco and showcase the nation’s development, including its infrastructure and achievements in tourism and sports.
Beyond social media, Zarou hopes to create a legacy through community projects in Morocco, such as educational initiatives focused on youth. Inspired by Morocco’s 2022 World Cup performance and the pride it instilled, he envisions supporting young talent and investing in Morocco’s future.
Also serving as an ambassador for FC Bayern Munich, his journey shows the strength of embracing dual identities and leveraging his influence for positive change, making him both an ambassador for Moroccan culture and a role model for millions around the world.
