President of the Canary Islands Fernando Clavijo stated on Monday that Morocco is a “key player” in ensuring stability and managing crises in the West African region.
In a press briefing, Clavijo highlighted Morocco’s strategic importance to the EU and the US, noting the Kingdom’s essential role in stabilizing West Africa.
When asked about the potential geopolitical impact of Donald Trump’s pending return to the White House on the region, the President of the Canary Islands reiterated that Morocco is a “first-tier partner” of the EU and a “priority partner” for the US in the area.
During his recent visit to Morocco in October, Clavijo reaffirmed the Canary Islands’ commitment to strengthening cooperative ties with Morocco, pointing out that “clarity, honesty, and loyalty form the foundation of their bilateral relationship.”
