The 18th International Desert Film Festival in Morocco’s southern city of Zagora will feature Russian cinema as the guest of honor from December 9 to 13, according to a statement.
At a recent meeting at the Russian Embassy in Morocco, Russian Ambassador Vladimir Baibakov, Alexander Sin, director of the Russian House in Rabat, and festival organizers finalized details for the event.
The festival lineup will include 30 films from various countries, featuring Russia’s “Mountain of Lovers” by Salavat Yuzeev and the documentary “Island of Noihon” by Elena Demidova.
Filmmakers from Morocco, India, France, Egypt, Tunisia, and other nations are also expected to participate.
Russian filmmaker Milyausha Aituganova, who directs the Kazan International Festival of Muslim Cinema, and Composer and Producer Marat Fayzullin will join the festival jury, celebrating global cinema in Morocco’s desert setting.
