Real Sociedad will face Barcelona without Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd, who will miss the La Liga match on Sunday evening, due to a hamstring injury, Spanish media reported.
Aguerd, 27, sustained the injury after playing the full 90 minutes in the team’s 2-1 loss to Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Europa League this week. He underwent tests upon returning to San Sebastián, which confirmed the injury.
The forward is also expected to be ruled out of international duty with the Moroccan national team, the Atlas Lions. There is no timeline for his return and further updates on his recovery are pending.
Real Sociedad has struggled in both domestic and European competitions, winning only two of its last four La Liga matches and securing just one home victory this season.
