Abdelkader Lachheb, a former Moroccan international football player and prominent diplomat, died on Sunday at age 70 after battling a prolonged illness, according to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
In a statement, FRMF Head Fouzi Lekjaa and the federation’s board members offered their sincere condolences to Lachheb’s family, friends, and Morocco’s entire football community.
Lachheb, a widely respected figure in Moroccan sports, represented Morocco’s national football team multiple times and played for clubs like Wydad Casablanca, US Musulmane of Oujda, and Mouloudia Oujda.
Beyond his athletic career, Lachheb served Morocco as an ambassador to Canada, Japan, and Russia.
Lachheb’s funeral took place on Sunday after the Asr prayer at Casablanca’s Chouhada Cemetery.
