The Moroccan men’s national basketball team will begin a training camp on November 11 in Rabat, ahead of the AfroBasket 2025 qualifiers, which will take place in Senegal from November 22-24, according to the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation (FRMBB).
Morocco is placed in Group A, along with South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Mali. The four teams will compete for a place among the three spots to qualify for the next decisive stage of the competition. If successful, the next phase will also serve as a qualifier for the next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Morocco’s national team coach Labib Al Hamrani has called up 20 players for the training camp, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported. The FRMBB has submitted a bid to the African Basketball Confederation to host the second phase of the qualifiers, scheduled for next February.
The list of the players includes Alaa Eddine Boutayeb (Rider University/USA), Ali Sakine (Wydad Casablanca), Anas El Moussaoui (AS FAR), Ayoub Achouri (Maghreb Fes), Ayoub Nouhi (FUS Rabat), Hamza Bouchar (Maghreb Fes), Hamza Ghoulliale (East Central Community College/USA), and Ilyas Aqboube (AS Sale).
It also encompasses Jihad Benchlikha (AS Sale), Kévin Frenceschi (Cep Lorient Breizh Basket/France), Khalid Boukichou (AS Salé), Mohamed Bahmad (Majd Tanger), Mohammed Benichou (Ittihad Tanger), Mohammed Chaoui (AS Sale), Marouane Hanini (Wydad Casablanca), Mohamed Choua (Rouen Métropol Basket/France), Omar Karem (Olimpia Milano/Italy), Rayane Solhi (Veritas/USA), Soufiane Benmhine (FUS Rabat), and Yassine El Mahsini (AS Sale).
