A British delegation, led by Asim Hafeez from the UK’s Foreign Ministry, visited the Moussalaha Center in Salé on Thursday to study Morocco’s approach to rehabilitating extremist offenders.
Hafeez, the Director of International Strategies and Engagement, and his team met with Ahmed Abbadi, President of the Moussalaha Center, to discuss their mission and goals.
Moussalaha focuses on preventing violent extremism and reintegrating former extremists into society through a structured rehabilitation program.
During the meeting, both sides expressed a strong interest in strengthening their collaboration to combat violent extremism. The visit highlighted shared goals in addressing violent extremism through preventative and rehabilitative strategies, according to a statement from the center.
The British delegation explored Morocco’s unique model, which supports inmates convicted of extremism-related crimes with programs that prepare them for reintegration into society post-release.
