Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch chaired a meeting on Thursday to consider mechanisms necessary to implement the Royal directives to comprehensively address Moroccan expatriate’s affairs, to support Moroccans resident abroad, and to strengthen their connection to their homeland.
At the beginning of the meeting, Akhannouch reviewed the key points of the Royal Speech delivered on the 49th anniversary of the Green March on Wednesday, including limiting the institutional mandate of the Council for the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) and the creation of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Moroccan Expatriates.
He said that the government is committed to mobilizing all necessary resources to ensure the success of the government’s reform efforts with respect to expats, according to a statement from the Head of Government’s office.
“The government will ensure the implementation of the king’s orders with the required seriousness and urgency, through a series of measures and coordination between the institutions in charge of Moroccan expatriates’ affairs and by addressing their new needs,” Akhannouch said.
Participants in the meeting discussed various initiatives to strengthen the cultural and spiritual ties of the Moroccan community abroad with their country, to simplify and digitize administrative and legal procedures, to support the development of expat skills and talent, to encourage various initiatives, and to promote investment in Morocco in light of its new investment charter.
