Morocco has been participating in the UN-Habitat’s 12th World Urban Forum (WUF 12) that is running this week from November 4-8 in Cairo, to demonstrate its experience in providing the “Direct Aid to Housing” program to Moroccan expatriates and the role of real estate lawyers, known as “notaires,” in this area.
After participating in a panel discussion entitled “Housing for All: How to Manage Access to Housing in a Changing World,” Mohamed Rachid Tadlaoui, Secretary General of the National Council of Notaires in Morocco, told Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) that Morocco has gained significant experience in the digitization of the country’s direct housing assistance program.
Morocco has coordinated the efforts of all stakeholders to ensure the success of this vital program, he said, and the National Council of Notaries of Morocco has played a key role in supporting and assisting its beneficiaries.
The Secretary-General also touted a partnership agreement between Morocco’s Ministry of National Territory Planning, Urbanism, Housing, and City Policy, and the National Council of Notaries of Morocco, that was integral to launching the direct housing assistance program on January 1, 2024.
He underscored Morocco’s experience with improving administrative practices in real estate, which he asserted is “a model to follow, thanks to the digitization of all stages of the process.”
A Moroccan delegation of representatives from ministries, public institutions, and elected bodies is representing the kingdom at the forum. Members include officials from the Ministries of National Territory Planning, Interior, Economy, and Finance, as well as Morocco’s financial arm CDG, the Al Omrane Group, and urban agencies.
