Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) seized 249 tons of marijuana between January and August 2024, representing an increase of nearly 50% compared to last year’s records, with 168 tons, according to Morocco’s Ministry of the Interior report published on Wednesday.
The ministry also said that the DGSN seized 2,189 kilograms of cocaine, 52 tons of cannabis resin, and 839,583 ecstasy pills.
Moroccan authorities also dismantled several criminal networks and confiscated international cargo trucks, cars, jet skis, and speedboats, which are commonly used by smugglers to evade coast guard patrols.
