A new bout of floods hit Spain on Friday in the northeastern Girona region, sweeping away dozens of cars and completely blocking access to a bridge in the town of Cadaqués, local media reported.
Videos shared on social media show a violent stream of water rushing down a street, dragging dozens of cars with it and causing a pileup that blocked a bridge.
Cadaqués’ Mayor Pia Serinyana Torrents said that 32 total cars had been washed away following the sudden floods, but luckily no casualties have been reported.
The flood appears to be mild compared to the deadly one that struck Valencia last week, killing more than 200 people.
Girona, part of Spain’s Catalonia region, is still under high alert as more extreme weather is expected to hit the region on Friday night.
Catalonia’s meteorological service warned that rain intensity could exceed 20 mm (0.7 inches) in 30 minutes from Friday evening until Saturday afternoon.
