The legendary Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou is recognized as one of the greatest icons of world football in Madrid’s Legends Museum, where his jersey is on display beside other players who have influenced the history of the game.
Located in the heart of Madrid, Puerta del Sol, the Legends Museum immerses visitors in football’s rich heritage, showcasing iconic relics from legends like Diego Maradona, Pelé, Johan Cruyff, and now Morocco’s Bounou.
Spanning 4,200 square meters over seven floors, the museum allows fans to see historic jerseys and artifacts, including Bounou’s shirt from Morocco’s 2022 World Cup journey where the national Atlas Lions team made a historic run to the semifinals.
Paola Herrera Rodriguez, Communications Director at the museum, noted that Bounou is celebrated for his role in Morocco’s historic World Cup success and as a symbol of African pride, reported Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP).
“Bounou’s presence here honors his impact on Moroccan football and his achievements in La Liga and the Europa League with Sevilla FC,” she said, adding that his display reflects Morocco and Africa’s representation in global football history.
Next to Bounou’s jersey are prized relics like the only remaining Lev Yashin shirt, Alfredo Di Stéfano’s 1960 European Cup final jersey, and Diego Maradona’s 1986 World Cup final shirt, valued at EUR 20 million.
Interactive exhibits, including a 4D cinema and a 3D presentation of iconic stadiums, allow visitors to relive football’s greatest moments and explore stadiums like Argentina’s Bombonera and Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu, with plans to feature Casablanca’s Grand Stadium in the future.
With over 5,000 iconic pieces, the museum offers a journey through football history, fueled by the vast collection of Argentine Marcelo Ordás Peña, in collaboration with FIFA, UEFA, and La Liga.
