Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour declared on Wednesday at the opening of the “Africa Trade and Investment: Risk Management” forum in Frankfurt that “Morocco is strengthening its position as a reliable, competitive, and innovative economic platform for Germany.” As Morocco’s economy grows, he said, the kingdom is “attracting more companies interested in establishing a presence in Africa.”
During a panel discussion addressing the “Trade and Investment Partnership between Africa and Germany in the Context of Geopolitical Rebalancing,” Mezzour noted that 300 German companies are already operating in Morocco, and that has created nearly 35,000 jobs in diverse sectors, including engineering and various technical fields.
He highlighted the “very positive development dynamics” taking place in Morocco, driven by large-scale, competitive infrastructure projects. Such developments are increasingly capturing the attention of foreign investors, particularly from Germany.
“These dynamics underscore Morocco’s attractiveness as an industrial hub for foreign investors seeking to leverage the kingdom’s strategic location, competitive advantages, and skilled workforce to accelerate their growth and access global markets,” the Minister said.
Mezzour also reaffirmed Morocco’s ambition to improve its international rankings by setting concrete goals for 2030, which will include building world-class infrastructure and further enhancing competitiveness.
He encouraged German companies and African policymakers to recognize the mutual benefits of a stronger partnership, noting the importance of Morocco’s relationship with Germany, “which is based on shared values and a common goal of building a prosperous and stable future for both nations.”
Sponsored by the German-African Economic Association (Afrika-Verein), the “Africa Trade and Investment: Risk Management” forum is being held November 6-7 and is bringing together representatives from Germany’s private sector and delegations from various African countries, including Somalia, represented by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, which is the guest of honor this year.
