Robert Bill, a British father of four convicted of attempted rape and child abduction, has reportedly died in a Moroccan prison, where he was serving a 20-year sentence after his arrest in 2013, according to Wales Online report.
Bill, who had relocated to southern Spain in 2012 after serving a prison sentence in the UK, was detained by Moroccan authorities in June 2013 at a Tetouan petrol station, where locals intervened after hearing a young girl’s cries for help coming from a Spanish-registered vehicle.
Bill’s criminal history dates back to 2007 when he attempted to abduct a five-year-old girl in Holywell, UK, leading to his imprisonment in 2009 with an initial six-year sentence, later reduced to two years after an appeal.
Shortly after his release, he moved to Spain and took a job as an estate agent. In early 2013, Spanish authorities launched a manhunt following allegations that he had attempted to abduct a 12-year-old girl in Velez-Malaga; however, Bill fled to Morocco later that year, entering from Sebta, a Spanish enclave.
In 2014, he was convicted in Morocco of kidnapping and attempting to assault two young girls, one in Tetouan and another in Chefchaouen, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He had been serving that sentence until his reported death just days ago
