Moroccan boxer Othmane Chadgour has claimed the bronze medal in the 48 kg weight category at the World Youth Championship held in Budva, Montenegro. The tournament runs until November 4, with participation from 73 countries.
Chadgour secured the medal after defeating Armenian boxer Vagharshak Keyan in round 16 by unanimous decision. He then triumphed over Puerto Rican Morales Yarrell in the quarter-finals, again by unanimous decision.
In the semi-finals, the Moroccan boxer faced Chinese competitor Hu Junhao and won with a score of 4-1, securing his spot in the finals. However, his journey ended when he lost to Azerbaijani boxer Nazarov Bilalhabach with a score of 0-5.
Boxers Abdelali Boudnguit (51 kg), Farhane Mohamed Jamai (54 kg), Saiffeddine Chakli (57 kg), Salaheddine Hamamouch (60 kg), Adam Choukri (63 kg), Yasser Barchami (67 kg), Mohamed Amine Harnoune (71 kg), and Ilias Kariba (75 kg) are representing Morocco in the World Youth Championship.
In the women’s category, the Moroccan team includes Yasmine Annabi (48 kg), Farah Abdeljawad (50 kg), Amira Dinghair (52 kg), Jihan Mokhtari (54 kg), Douaa Dahrir (57 kg), Safaa Zoubaa (60 kg), Khadija Barkach (63 kg), and Niaama Bouslam (66 kg).
Cuban coach Juan Carlos Ferrer and Moroccan trainers Noureddine Enmira and Ahmed Berki are leading the team in the competion.
