Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) announced on Thursday that it is opening a new branch of its College of Computing that will be dedicated to cybersecurity. Located at UM6P’s Rabat campus, the new minicampus is intended to be a center of excellence for cybersecurity in Africa.
The center’s program will offer a three-year curriculum designed for students at the Bac+2/Bac+3 level, particularly those from preparatory classes and undergraduate programs such as DEUG and License.
Students can enroll in the College of Computing either after completing their Baccalaureate or directly in their third year. Both pathways require them to go through the same selection process.
The new program complements UM6P’s existing offerings in artificial intelligence and machine learning. The university will hold entrance exams for the cybersecurity program beginning in June 2025.
“Opening this new branch in Rabat reaffirms our commitment to developing skills in strategic digital fields such as cybersecurity,” Rachid Guerraoui, the president of the steering committee for the College of Computing said. “This initiative fits into our vision to create two centers of excellence in computing.”
The UM6P College of Computing intends to train a new generation of leaders in digital sciences. With a faculty of 32 professors, 91 doctoral students, and 239 undergraduates, the college offers engineering and doctoral degrees in computer science through programs that integrate theoretical foundations with technological innovations tailored to industry needs.
Students benefit from a state-of-the-art learning environment, including access to the “UM6P Toubkal” supercomputer.
