Moroccan police and customs officers stationed at the Beni Ansar border crossing in Nador intercepted a vehicle bearing a foreign license plate attempting to enter the kingdom on Thursday, security sources reported. They discovered a concealed shipment of 63,074 narcotic pills and 550 grams of cocaine.
The authorities said they found the illicit substances carefully hidden inside the car’s interior panels, including the one housing the spare tire.
Officers detained two Spanish nationals of Moroccan origin, aged 70 and 57.
The suspects are now in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office into who else may be connected to the criminal activities, with an eye on regional and global links.
