The Moroccan National teams won 45 medals, including 16 gold, 12 silver, and 17 bronze, at the 2024 School Olympics “Gymnasiade,” held in Manama, Bahrain, from October 22-31. This achievement placed Morocco first among African and Arab countries and ninth globally out of 71 participating nations.
The Moroccan team of 71 students competed in athletics, taekwondo, judo, karate, archery, badminton, and orienteering.
Sponsored by the International School Sport Federation (ISF), the “Gymnasiade 2024” brought together 5,400 students from around the world to compete in 30 different sports.
Morocco’s Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports commended the outstanding performances of Moroccan students both nationally and internationally.
“These positive results reflect the ministry’s commitment to advancing school sports,“ the ministry said. “This commitment is demonstrated through a comprehensive sports and educational training program designed to help talented student-athletes develop both their athletic skills and talents.”
The program also encompasses scientific, linguistic, and cultural education aligning with the strategic goals of the 2022-2026 roadmap, providing high-quality public education for all.
The roadmap prioritizes school sports by offering activities that allow students to thrive, including expanding sports programs and increasing national and international school tournaments.
