The Moroccan Consulate in Valencia confirmed on Thursday that one Moroccan national has died and one sustained a minor injury during the severe floods that inundated southeastern Spain due to storm Dana. At least 25 Moroccans remain unaccounted for.
The Moroccan consulate has established a crisis unit to identify and respond to the needs of individuals in distress. The unit is traveling to areas where victims may be located and is collaborating closely with local authorities to provide necessary assistance.

To facilitate communication, the consulate set up two emergency numbers for Moroccan nationals. Individuals may report missing persons and/or request aid: (+34) 631 93 58 18 and (+34) 631 71 18 73.
In addition, the consulate is actively working with civil society organizations in the Valencia region to help locate missing individuals and offer ongoing support to those affected by the disaster.
The catastrophic flooding in Spain has already claimed at least 95 lives. Torrential rain—equal to a full year’s worth—struck on Tuesday, flooding towns with torrents of water and mud that overturned cars and blocked streets.
Emergency teams, including 1,000 soldiers, police, and firefighters, are racing against time to find survivors and recover bodies in what officials call a once-in-a-generation event.
Rescuers scrambled to evacuate people stranded on rooftops, some pulling residents from homes with water up to their necks.
Local authorities have declared a three-day mourning period as search crews continue their grim work, facing an expected rise in the death toll due to the many residents still missing. Valencia’s regional government chief, Carlos Mazon, reported that rescue teams completed over 200 ground rescues and 70 aerial evacuations on Wednesday.
