Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, met with a delegation of French business leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs in Rabat on Tuesday, during French President Emmanuel Macron’s official visit to Morocco, to strengthen digital and high-tech cooperation between the two countries.
El Fallah Seghrouchni said that the meeting had highlighted Morocco’s strategic transformation into a hub for digital innovation, positioning the country as a “vital link between Europe and Africa.”
Describing Morocco’s progress on a number of major projects, she noted Morocco’s increasing appeal to international companies as a gateway for development opportunities across the African continent.
The minister further tied these efforts to the “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy, which seeks to establish Morocco as a regional digital leader and elevate its status in the global economy.
Patrick Martin, president of the French business association MEDEF, applauded the quality of projects that Morocco and France are implementing together. He pointed to digital infrastructure as a promising area for cooperation, given its role in technology and training.
Martin commended Morocco’s success in technical and technological training, which has driven the development of its skilled workforce, particularly in engineering.
In support of the partnership, Orange Group CEO Christel Heydemann affirmed her company’s dedication to further investment in Morocco, with a focus on fiber optics and 5G.
She also highlighted the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal, as a catalyst for modernizing Morocco’s digital infrastructure, which will enhance its international standing.
El Fallah Seghrouchni voiced optimism that further bilateral cooperation will open new avenues for Morocco’s digital sector. She said digital technology is a “crucial tool” for addressing future challenges, including the digitization of public services and youth employment.
France and Morocco’s partnership “builds on a foundation of shared goals and mutual benefits,” she added, and it will support Morocco’s vision to develop innovative and lasting solutions in the digital sphere.
