Younes El Mechrafi, the Director General of the Moroccan Gaming and Sports Authority (MDJS), was reelected Vice President of the World Lottery Association (WLA) during its general assembly last week.
El Mechrafi will serve a two-year term on the executive committee with eight other elected members. He has been working within the WLA since 2014, having held various leadership roles, including Chair of the WLA Audit Committee since 2018 and Vice President since 2022.
“My reelection is a great honor for Morocco as well as for the MDJS and its team,” El Mechrafi stated. “The trust bestowed upon us by the international community reflects recognition of the diligent work done for many years in service of the public interest and the development of Moroccan sports in particular.”
The WLA, which comprises over 150 lotteries from 80 countries across five continents, serves as the watchdog on betting and lotteries.
In addition to his role with the WLA, El Mechrafi is a founding member of the executive committee of United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports (ULIS), previously known as the Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS).
Established under the auspices of the WLA, ULIS focuses on preserving the integrity of sports by combating match-fixing and manipulation in sports betting.
