The number of companies registered on Morocco’s public procurement portal has increased from 6,800 to 13,000 in the first eight months of 2024, Morocco’s Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah told MPs at the Lower House on Monday.
In response to an oral question on the “impact of public procurement reforms on improving public order management,” Fettah noted that “purchase orders reached around 64,000 in the first eight months of 2024, with a total value of 1.6 billion MAD.”
The minister highlighted the importance of revising public procurement management to promote regional equity, support small businesses, prioritize national interests, and enhance transparency.
Answering another question on real estate transactions and Article 139 of the General Tax Code, Fettah pointed out that, “following the tax reform, municipal revenue has increased by 36%, while revenue from the tax on undeveloped urban land rose by 12%, reaching 2 billion MAD.”
The minister also reported a 3.4% increase in real estate transactions from October 2023 to October 2024.
