President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron and his spouse, Brigitte Macron, arrived in Rabat on Monday for a State visit to the Kingdom of Morocco upon the invitation of King Mohammed VI.
King Mohammed VI, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, Princesses Lalla Khadija, and Lalla Meryem welcomed Marcon and France’s first lady upon their arrival at Rabat-Sale Airport.
After landing, the anthems of both countries played, with a 21-gun salute celebrating the arrival. The Royal Guard saluted the king, the president, and the princes.
At the Royal Salon of Rabat-Sale Airport, Macron and his wife participated in the traditional welcome ceremony, which included the offering of milk and dates.
Following the ceremony, the presidential convoy proceeded to the Royal Palace in Rabat. Along the route, crowds lined the streets from Salé to Rabat to celebrate the visit, displaying flags of both Morocco and France. The King paused the convoy to greet cheering citizens along with Macron.
Upon reaching the “Bab Assoufara” gate, the Royal Guard’s cavalry and band escorted the royal and presidential convoys to the main square of the Royal Palace.
King Mohammed VI welcomed the French delegation accompanying President Macron, which included Interior Minister, Bruno Retailleau; National Education Minister, Anne Genetet; Europe and Foreign Affairs, Minister Jean-Noël Barrot; and Culture Minister, Rachida Dati; among others.
France’s Ambassador to Morocco, Christophe Lecourtier, and embassy officials in Rabat also greeted the King and Macron.
Both leaders then moved to the Royal Office, where the monarch, accompanied by the princes and the princesses, joined President Macron and his wife for a family photo.
