Moroccan politician Mohamed El Bakkouri was unanimously re-elected as Head of the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee of the Arab Parliament on Saturday in Cairo, during a procedural session at the start of the first meeting of the fourth legislature.
The meeting included the election of the Arab Parliament president and committee heads, Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
El Bakkouri, President of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) party in Morocco’s Upper House, told MAP that “his unanimous re-election reflects the trust and respect Morocco holds within the Arab Parliament.”
Moroccan Authenticity and Modernity party member at Morocco’s Lower House, Khadija Hajoubi, was elected Vice President of the Committee on Social, Educational, Cultural, Women’s, and Youth Affairs.
Emirati Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi was also named the new President of the Arab Parliament for a two-year term.
