Morocco’s national beach soccer team clinched the bronze medal at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Hurghada, defeating the host country, Egypt 4-3 on Saturday.
Though a significant achievement, the bronze does not qualify Morocco for the 2025 Beach Soccer World Cup, set for May 1-11 in Seychelles—the first time the tournament will be held in Africa.
Senegal claimed the AFCON title with a commanding 6-1 victory over Mauritania in the final, securing World Cup spots for both teams.
The kingdom claimed its fourth AFCON bronze medal with this win, following previous victories in 2013 in El Jadida, Morocco; Saly, Senegal, in 2021; and Vilankulo, Mozambique, in 2022.
