The Ministry of Youth in partnership with Huawei Morocco, held the first ever “Gaming Startups Meeting Day” on Wednesday in Rabat, as part of an initiative to develop the rapidly growing gaming industry in Morocco.
Minister of Youth Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid stated that the meeting reflects Morocco’s ambition to become a key player with respect to technological development, a goal announced several months ago.
The strategy is intended to attract large international companies to the national market, he said. “The major companies choosing to come to Morocco are primarily looking for high-quality talent capable of meeting the demands of an increasingly globalized market.”
It is important to create a strong Moroccan ecosystem to enable both local and international partners, as well as young Moroccan %%talent, to thrive and eventually become champions on the international stage, he said.
He highlighted the progress already made by numerous young Moroccans at previous events, asserting that the country’s potential in gaming is immense.
The minister described the gaming industry as “a promising sector for young Moroccans,” offering opportunities in careers that have yet to be fully explored.
Experts addressed key topics important to Morocco’s gaming development strategy, including the structuring of the sector’s incubators and the importance of public cloud services for its growth.
The also meeting provided a platform for exchange and collaboration, allowing young entrepreneurs and startups to connect with key players in the value chain, while encouraging the creation of businesses.
On the sidelines of the event, the Ministry of Youth and Huawei Morocco signed an agreement formalizing their commitment to supporting Moroccan startups and training young entrepreneurs in new information and communication technologies.
Signed by Bensaid and Jeremy Lin, Executive Vice President of Huawei Northern Africa, the agreement focuses on training in key fields including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and Big Data, while fostering innovation and enhancing the digital skills of various stakeholders.
Nabil Ouchagour, Chief Brand Officer of Huawei Morocco, said his company is committed to supporting the national gaming strategy through a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication. The agreement reflects Huawei’s strong interest in assisting Morocco’s gaming strategy, he said, focusing primarily on supporting the infrastructure and influence of Moroccan startups in the sector.
