French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Morocco from October 28 to 30 will be a strategic trip aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries, Africa Intelligence reported. Accompanied by his wife, First Lady Brigitte Macron, the French leader is expected to be welcomed upon arrival in Rabat by King Mohammed VI.
Macron is scheduled to arrive in the Moroccan capital at 5 p.m. on October 28, where he will be officially received at a ceremony on the esplanade of the Mechouar at the royal palace. That evening, a private meeting between the French president and King Mohammed VI will take place, followed by a state dinner in honor of the French delegation, which will include about 150 officials, including ministers.
The formal banquet is expected to be the occasion for signing several bilateral and institutional agreements, highlighting the two nations’ commitment to deepening their partnerships in various sectors.
Macron is expected to address the Moroccan Parliament the next day on October 29 about significant topics pertaining to France and Morocco’s political and economic cooperation.
Later that evening, a second state dinner will be held at the royal palace, where Macron will be awarded Morocco’s highest honor. Crown Prince Moulay Hassan will also receive the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor from President Macron, further symbolizing the deep historical ties between France and Morocco.
Macron will meet with the French community in Morocco on October 30, the last day of his official tour. According to Africa Intelligence, Macron will meet with his countrymen before leaving for Paris that evening, escorted to the Rabat airport by Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch.
This diplomatic move signals the beginning of high-level discussions between Paris and Rabat.
