Rachid Talbi Alami, Speaker of Morocco’s Lower House, met with Estonia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Margus Tsahkna, on Monday at the parliament headquarters in Rabat, to examine ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
The officials reviewed the parliamentary frameworks of each country and discussed the potential advantages of enhanced bilateral parliamentary collaboration, according to a statement from the Lower House. They recognized a mutual benefit in sharing best practices in key areas such as digitalization, open government, and cybersecurity.
Tsahkna commended the strong cultural and historical ties between the two countries. He also reaffirmed Estonia’s support for the Moroccan autonomy plan for the Sahara, describing it as a serious, credible, and reliable framework for a lasting resolution to the regional conflict.
Talbi Alami affirmed that Morocco is a leader in promoting peace, coexistence, and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations.
Monica Kase, Estonia’s Ambassador to Morocco, who resides in Portugal, and Mohammed Achkalou, Morocco’s Ambassador to Finland and Estonia, based in Helsinki, also attended the meeting.
